On March 17th 2011 Dominic Vilaubi was announced as our 2010 Thomas A. Sauer Youth of the Year winner. He is an active member at the club; has been a member for 9 years; a senior at La Habra High School; a current keystone member and an active volunteer for the club and local community events. He has participated in our passport to manhood, career launch, and goals for graduation programs. He is a teen that is focused in life and keeps his life goals in place. He is a great mentor to the youth and spends time in all of our departments. He pops in and out of the games room, arts and crafts center, Robert E. Fulton education center, John and Tillie Campos teen center, and the Harmon and Mary Jenson gymnasium.

Dominic quotes:
"One of my services to the Boys and Girls Club is dedication. I love being here, it is so positive and everyone has smiles on their faces, from the little kids to the staff. In the gym when they are playing a game I volunteer to be a captain because the kids need role models to look up to and having that leadership is something that you can hand down and educate kids on by just simply being there and demonstrating leadership."

"Everywhere in the Boys and Girls Club I am asked to participate in activities such as the teen center, games room, and the gym. I play with everyone as much as I can. I also go into the education center and art room to see if they need any help as well. Spending time in the art room is always fun because that is where you see all these kids’ imaginations and ideas come to life because there are no boundaries on what you can create.  Just recently the teen center got a grant I helped Natalie Luna, our teen coordinator, create a list of new items that would be useful in the center. I helped create it while keeping grant budget in mind. That night I went home and researched prices on the things we needed and added up the total.  Over the years I have participated in programs such as money matters, torch club, keystone club, and passport to manhood. These clubs helped me be the person I am today and I appreciate all of the things these clubs did."

Also, on the 17th of March, there were three other La Habra High School students that were recgonized. Marisa Hernandez, a sophomore at La Habra High was awarded our Sportsmanship winner for 2010. Marisa has been a member for more than 9 years and continues to come to the club with a great attitude. Staff and members chose her as Sportsmanship award because of her humble attitude. She has been a member for two years.

Jason Perez, a senior at La Habra High School, received our Warren Kraft Character award. Jason, has been a member for  3 years.
